The School

The elementary school they used to attend has been abandoned, slated for destruction, whenever the town council can raise the funds. I stand on the far side of the chain-link fence, near the dark red "condemned" sign. I look up at the broken windows. The cord of a windowshade swings back and forth slightly in a slip of air.
