North Bedroom

Buddy and Baby had the north bedroom, and Mother and Father the east, because it was smaller. Funny to think of Baby in that house all by himself now.

One thing I do remember about that bedroom was the way you could crawl out the window onto the roof. That's where Buddy jumped from, you know. Because he could get out on the roof. But we could get into the attic that way, climb onto the roof and then into the attic window. Mother always kept the attic locked, even after Baby was old enough to know not to climb those stairs and fall through the slats between the rafters. Oh, it made Helen so mad when we'd do that, climb away and hide. I shimmied up into that attic until I was nearly 18, just to hear myself think sometimes.

Funny to think of your Grandpa Baby being so little he didn't know better than to walk out where the attic wasn't floored!

Much Love,

Aunt Jessie
