Trip Lesson: No really, chair lifts are terrifying.
|
Riding down the chairlift is not usually allowed. You see, chairlifts
are balanced to carry weight up, so in the rare instances when weight
must be carried down, the operator takes a few minutes to explain
the physics of the lift, presumably to keep you from falling off.
So, with ankle throbbing and nerves twitching, I was informed that
I "really needed to hold on tight with both
hands" or I would surely plummet to my death. Furthermore,
my friend would not be allowed to ride with me, as his weight plus
mine would surely be enough to cause the chair to tilt at impossible
angles for both of us to remain seated..."safely." I took
a deep breath, hobbled onto the lift, and flew face down into the
wind with nothing but air and a tiny distant base camp below me.
I was done with boarding.
