In the United
States, it is traditional to make New Year’s resolutions in January.
However, because my life is organized around an academic year, I
make my “New Year’s” resolutions in August.
The year I was going to turn 34, mine were all about becoming a
stronger person, both emotionally and physically.
I was going to
work out regularly and eat better—(sound familiar?).
I signed up for a yoga class called “The Warrior Workout” two
days a week to add some interest to my normal treadmill and weights
routine. For my mind, I
signed up for a Zen meditation class.
I recommitted to writing at minimum two hours a day, and studying
about writing or doing other reading at least one hour a day.
