Religion
Some of what is done in the name of religion is the worst of evil done by the human race. Genocide, murder, mutilation, imprisonment, starvation--the list of crimes done in the name of God is endless. One of the latest is the destruction of ancient Buddha statues by the Taliban. It shouldn't surprise anyone, knowing what they have done to their own women. However, it is still hard to stomach the righteousness with which they proceed.
