Right about now, the Republicans would either be calling me a whiner or a degenerate. That is, they would if they had made it to this point in my site. Somehow I doubt that has happened. The sorts of things that I am exploring here are downright un-American--but that is the whole point. There are some things about our current president's agenda that I find quite disturbing. The first is his (un)environmental policies. He says that we need to be looking for "new" sources of energy, but what he really means is that we need to remain dependant on the same old kind, just start looking for it in a new place. And, if easing the burden on the manufacturers of that same old energy and protecting the pocketbooks of the people means that there are more pollutants released into the air, there is more aersenic in our water, the salmon finally all die off and the hole in the ozone just keeps on getting bigger--so what. That is the price he would rather pay. He's willing to sacrifice our environment on the altar of our economy. Damn, that guy is a true American! Did you know that there was a study done on how much natural gas could actually be harvested from the area of Alaska that Mr. Bush is so hot to ruin? A six months supply. So who is he really trying to help by drilling there? I'm not done, just don't have time for more just yet. Copyright Salahub 2001 |
