How to Write Press Releases

Introduction

Typically, a press release is formulated to meet the standard journalistic model used by all media organizations. The information it contains should be organized and structured in the same manner as a news article.

Preferably, a media outlet will be able to copy a press release verbatim. When not, they should be able to do so with a minimal amount of reworking. Ideally, it should provide the media with source-text for a newsworthy article and the issuing company with a bit of free publicity.

The steps to follow when writing a press release can be found on the left hand menu bar. Each link provides tips and exercises to help you write a press release.
