Introduction: Teaching Resources for E238

Because we offer so many sections of E238, 20th-Century Fiction, this course is now the most common literature course that our instructors teach. To help share resources, we have compiled the following collection of teaching materials and advice. We hope that the materials will help new teachers of E238 design an exciting and engaging syllabus as well as help experienced teachers of the course discover new texts and approaches. As you create and refine your version of E238, please consider sharing your insights through contributions to this resource.

We have divided the materials into five general categories as indicated by the links below. Please note that the course nomination for inclusion in the state core of guaranteed transfer courses includes the most detailed explanation of course goals and content. You will find that nomination included in the "Overview - E238 Course Goals and Content" section of this guide. Sample syllabi that work out these goals also appear under this link.

As always, if you have questions, please contact the chair of the Literature Committee or the Undergraduate Coordinator.
