I have never been a very political person. I’ve never been very comfortable talking about the things I really thought, valued, and believed in. I didn't want to be attacked, seem too pretentious or make anyone feel bad. In fact, I have spent most of my life trying to be nice and quiet, (not that I was ever that successful at either). One of my most central qualities was that I never wanted to make anyone mad at me. I hate confrontations and fighting, so I would do anything to avoid them.
