I am told that I talk in my sleep. I believe this because I have woken myself up before with my own words. My sleep patterns are pretty erratic, but they're not nearly as crazy as the actual acts of sleeping and dreaming.
I really enjoy sleep. This is probably because I don't get much of it. It takes me anywhere from thirty minutes to three hours to fall asleep no matter how tired I am. Things tend to run through my mind like a tickertape that I can't shut off.
Another reason that I like to sleep is that it's simply fun for me. I think I dream more than the average person (or maybe I just remember more of my dreams). Most of dreams are on the nightmare side of things, which I don't really mind. Every now and then I have a refreshing dream that leaves me wanting more, but in general, I have nightmares; they're even recurring. I have one where I wake up saying, "What the fuck!" and I go back to sleep. I have been told by other people that when I have this dream, I tend to study my pillow as if there is something on it. I think the "something on it" must be a spider or some type of bug. I think that at one time, I actually found a spider on my pillow and incorporated into my dream world. I have recurring dreams about drowning. I have dreams within dreams where I am fighting to wake up, my body convulses, and my jaw clenches and grinds my teeth more than usual.
I often wake up from my dreams sore and out of breath. This is probably due to the fact that I act out my dreams. If I'm driving in my dream, I move my hands like I am driving. If I'm running in my dreams, I usually find myself running in reality, but waking up rather quickly. If I'm screaming in my dreams, I'm screaming in reality. Another one of my favorite dream phrases is, "Holy Shit!" I always say it in the same way with a lot of bass and significant rounding of the "o" in Holy.
I enjoy trying to determine what meanings my dreams hold. I recently had a dream about two snakes and a dog. I was disturbed by this dream. In the dream I couldn't figure out which snake was poisonous. I knew one of them was, but I couldn't tell which. Things were complicated by the dog, which was guarding the snakes. The dog was spraying and throwing feces like a monkey, and a little got on my leg. After a little research and introspection, I determined that the dream was about two men and a seemingly androgynous individual shitting on my reputation. Moreover, I determined that it was related to anxiety that I was having about someone speaking unfavorably about me to my face and behind my back.
