Pets were and are a very big part of both of our lives. We grew up with pets, and even as we get older we continue to keep pets around us. Often we spend time talking about adventures we'd had with our pets when we were younger. I believe that pets are integral to learning for children. Mike and I learned (sometimes through trial and error with fish) that being responsible for another living thing meant being there for it every day, not only to feed it, but to give it the attention it needs to stay happy and healthy. Our pets rewarded us with love and companionship for many years.
