'Tucky Concluded

Later, I tell my sister what's in the package once I receive it: Two maps of Kentucky (and this doesn’t include the bonus county map and list of county seats), a Kentucky Monthly magazine, a few random articles clipped from the local newspaper, and a Winter Silks catalog. I’m not sure whether the magazine and the articles were intended to help with my research or not. The cover of the magazine indicates there is a feature on "bed and breakfasts" (apparently they offer lots of breakfasts in Kentucky, but only one bed). One of the newspaper articles is about an alternative Catholic Church that practices essentially the same way but accepts re-married and other ex-communicated Catholics. I think, Is this a hint or what? I guess it’s her way of telling me what to do should I ever find someone to marry, again. Although this is all interesting information, I can’t really figure out why she’s included it. I refuse to call and ask, partly out of politeness and partly to avoid the county seat discussion again. The catalog is a complete mystery until my sister fills me in. She reminds me of the time I asked if mom had a Winter Silks catalog a while back.

"Remember last Christmas, you asked her if she had one and she said 'No, I sent it to Deb.'" My sister pauses for a moment, then continues, "Thank God she’s sending them to you now. She has been sending me those things for the past year. Every time she puts a note on it saying something like, 'This came to Cathy but I knew you were asking about it.' I don’t ever remember asking about it," my sister says. "I think she has us mixed up."

"Are you serious?" I ask.

I hang up with my sister and read the magazine.
