DAILY for 3-2

Describe briefly the topic you're planning to write your arguing papers on. What do you know about the topic so far? What more do you need to know? Where can you find the information you need?

If you can answer these questions about your topic now, do so. If you can't answer them now, complete these questions before class meets on Thursday.

  1. Who is your intended audience? What preconceptions and biases might they hold about your topic?
  2. What is your aim for writing?
  3. What claim do you want your readers to accept? How strong a claim can you realistically expect them to accept?
  4. What reasons are likely to appeal to this audience?
  5. How should you arrange the reasons to make the greatest impression on your readers?
  6. How should you lead into the argument? How should you conclude it?
  7. What can you do to present yourself as a person the audience can trust and respect?
