Supporting Critical Responses

All critical responses must be supported with evidence. Information from the essay, quoted directly and paraphrased, is one kind of evidence you can use in your response. For example, when you analyze the structure of an essay, you must use direct quotes to illustrate your analysis. Other forms of support include relevant personal experience and examples, facts, and statistics from outside sources.
