Your audience is of your choosing. But it MUST be an audience that does need to be convinced of whatever stand you take. If they already agree with you, there's not much point in making an argument in the first place. You will need to carefully consider your audience as you focus, develop and organize your paper: what will appeal to them? What will turn them off? What kind of objections would they have to your claim and reasons? What kind of language, tone etc. would reach this particular audience?
