Adieu
You will probably want to say your heart-felt goodbyes to your class BEFORE you get started on the exam assignment, so that you can give them the entire two hours to work on it.
Final Exam Assignment
Make a handout or an OH with the following directions on it, have students read over the directions silently or aloud, hand out the audience analysis questions, hand out the sheets of paper on which you have written the audience that each student will be working with, answer any student questions, then let them get started:
- Begin by taking a close look at the audience I have assigned to you, answering the questions on the audience analysis sheet. (You don't need to write up the results of your analysis in paragraph form. Simply take notes in response to the questions.)
- Then spend some time looking over your Final Arguing Essay, noting any changes that will need to be made if you are writing your essay for this new audience.
- Finally, write up a couple or more paragraphs in which you lay out a "revision plan" which states what you would do differently if you were addressing this new audience. (Get as specific as possible in explaining how this hypothetical essay would be significantly different from the one you wrote and handed in last class.)
