Instructions for Getting to the Web Forum from any Computer that has Netscape (Library, Eddy 300, Etc.):
- In Windows, click on Netscape.
- To get into the Writing Center, type in the following address www.Colostate.edu (Be sure to type it in EXACTLY this way, with the capitals in the right place and no spaces between anything.)
- Once at the Writing Center homepage, click on Assignments and Class Pages.
- Click on Composition.
- Click on CO150: College Composition
- Click on Composition Class Pages.
- Click on View a Listing of the Class Pages
- Click on CO150 Instructors.
- Find my name and our section number, then click on it.
- Click on View the Class Forum.
- When you are in the forum, you should see a message from me. Read this. It will tell you what you are to write about.
- Hit the "back" arrow key at the top of the screen to exit my message, then re-enter the Web Forum in order to post your response.
Instructions for Posting, Once in the Web Forum
- Click on the "Post" box.
- Click on Verify/Register to register with your own name.
- Insert your name (and a username you make up) in the appropriate areas. Be sure to remember your username, just like you would a PIN number. Click on Submit.
- Click on Continue when Security Information Box comes up.
- When you get the posting screen, type in your name and the title of your message. (Anything will do.)
- Reposition your cursor in the large box.
- Once in the large box, begin typing your response to my message. (Take about an hour to do this.)
- If this is the way you want your message to appear, click in the "Submit" box. (You will probably have to scroll down to see it.)
- Click on Continue when Security Information Box comes up.
- Now the program will ask you to verify that the posting is what you want it to be. After you have checked it and seen that it is correct, click on "Validate."
- Click on Continue when Security Information Box comes up.
- Your message is officially posted! (One note, though: Unless you post using the "Express" option, you are not likely to see your message appear in the main Web Forum list immediately. It usually takes a while, so don't panic if you don't see it come up immediately.)
Instructions for Responding to Other Students' Postings
- Get into the Web Forum using the instructions above.
- Click on the title of a message you would like to read.
- Read the message, using the down arrow at the right side of the screen to scroll down.
- At the end of the message, you will see several options. Click on the Reply box.
- Enter your username in the appropriate box. Hit enter.
- Click on Continue when Security Information Box comes up.
- Position your cursor in the large box, below the original message, and begin typing your response.
- When your response is complete, click on Submit.
- Click on Continue when Security Information Box comes up.
- Your reply is posted.
Instructions for Revising Your Own Message After Posting
- Get back into your own message.
- Scroll down and click on the Edit box.
- Enter your username, then hit Enter.
- Revise what you have written in whatever ways you want to do so.
- Scroll down and click on Submit.
- Click on Continue when the Security Information Box comes up.
- Your revised version of your message now replaces your earlier version.
