Identifying how a Group of Readings Addresses a Common Question: Once a writer has identified issues that a group of readings has in common, the writer must return to each reading to determine how the author of that text addresses an issue. For instance, Malcolm X and Helen Keller both address the issue of access to literacy and language. Differences in their experiences and in the times during which they lived, however, reveal different causes for their respective lack of access to language and literacy. Their responses to the issue, as a result, differ in important ways.
