Daily - Do this as a group. What has your group completed so far? What do you need to do to finish the presentation and handout? What questions do you have about the assignment?

Circulate as groups work and check their progress.

Bring the whole class together to answer questions - Keep reminding students of the goal of the assignment--to generate a long list of issues related to language and culture topics so that everyTwo in the class has many choices for an issue to research for the arguing paper.

Check students' understanding of what an issue is by having some state some examples of issues they found in their reading.

Give groups the rest of class time to work. Be sure you communicate your expectations about using class time for group work.
