Since we not only write extensively in class but also discuss your writing, have workshops, and revise essays, regular attendance is essential. You are allowed a maximum of four absences. Your grade for this course will be dropped one letter grade for every absence after the fourth. Because we frequently write at the outset of class, make every effort to be on time. Four tardies are equivalent to one absence. If you are absent on the day of a workshop or you come to the workshop or a conference without a typed draft, your essay grade will be lowered.
