All of the authors you've read so far (yourself and your classmates included) have expressed different ideas about several language relationships (power, self, community, culture, etc.). They've also discussed how those relationships can affect your ability to communicate with different groups of people--different audiences. Keeping in mind that your purpose in this class is to explore those language relationships to make yourself a better communicator to those audiences, the next step is to formulate your own ideas about them. How do YOU believe they interact? How do those relationships affect your own ability to communicate? Where do your ideas fall out in terms of the range of ideas we've already seen? Knowing your own ideas on the issue well enough to articulate them to your in-class audience will help you as you begin working toward effectively communicating with outside-of-class audiences in the next unit.
