Class Calendars, Syllabi, and Assignments

Three features that are available to you in your Writing Studio class site are your Class Calendar, Syllabi, and Assignments.

To view your class calendar:

1. Log in to the Writing Studio.
2. Click the My Page button in the main menu.
3. Click the Classes Taken link in the View section of your navigation menu.
4. Click the link title of the course you wish to view.
5. Click on the Calendar icon or link depending on the stylistics your instructor created.

• The calendar will be set to the current month, with today's date highlighted. This calendar works much the same as your Personal Calendar that can be accessed on your personal page. The calendar main page also gives you access to the View All Calendar Entries for this Class option.
• Note: as a student, you cannot make or update class calendar entries, you can only view them. You can, however, add events to your personal calendar from here. They will only show up for you, not for other memebers of the class, and be identified with the label Personal.

To view a specific date's entry in your class calendar:

• Follow steps 1 – 5 above.

6. Click on the drop down menu on the date options.

7. Choose the month and year you wish to view.
8. Click on the Go button.

• Note: you can move ahead or back by one month by clicking on the forward or back arrows located to the right of the Go button.

9. Click the entry title link.

To view your course Syllabus:

• Follow steps 1 – 5 above.

6. Click on the Syllabus icon or link.

To view any assignments your instructor has posted to your Writing Studio class site:

• Follow steps 1 – 5 above.

6. Click the Assignments icon or link.

• These assignments show up as a list on the left side of the page. All assignment titles are hyperlinks, so clicking on any of the titles will open that assignment.

• Each assignment includes a right side options menu that has a link to a print friendly version of the assignment, as well as showing the date the assignment was added to the site and when it was last updated.

Note: each class layout and the available features will vary depending on how your instructor set up your class page. For example, some class layout designs use icons as links to class features, while others use simple text links. Also, teachers have the option to hide some features, so while these instructions refer to a feature like Assignments, your instructor may not be using the Assignments feature, and you won't see or be able to access that feature in your Writing Studio class.
