Once you've created a basic Web page, you can begin to add content text, images, and so on to your document. HTML tags allow you to control the appearance and layout of the text and images on your pages. With a few exceptions (such as the break tag <BR>), HTML uses pairs of tags to turn on and turn off an effect, such as the beginning and end of a paragraph, the beginning and end of a heading, or the beginning and end of boldfaced text.
In contrast, HTML uses a single <IMG> tag to control the placement and appearance of images.
