Defining Audience AwarenessAs a concept, it sounds so simple: Think about who will read your paper before and while you write, and adjust your paper to help your reader understand it. Compared to the theory of relativity, this concept is a piece of cake. So why would teachers of writing spend so much time and energy talking about this simple idea? It turns out that writing (or revising) for a particular audience is much harder than thinking about it in the abstract. |
