Determine Your Scope
The scope of a cover letter will contain a brief description of the items included in a package. Its objective is to help your reader identify those items and why they are being sent.
In the sample cover letter the writer identifies the contents of her package and defines the lead-time required to complete the next stage of her project. She is extremely brief as both parties are fully aware of the background information.
