Conducting Simple Searches of the Web

Searching Google: Step 2

When you click on the Google Search button on its main page, Google conducts a search of the Web pages it has catalogued and displays the results on a new page. You should see the following items on the search results page:

Viewing the Results of Your Search: You can click on an individual Web page in the list of search results and visit that page. Or you can scroll through the list to see which sites appear to be most promising. Google provides descriptions of the Web sites it has catalogued.

Google groups its search results in "pages" of ten entries each. You can move from page to page by clicking on the Previous and Next buttons.

Note: Like other search sites on the Web, Google does not list all the pages available on the World Wide Web. However, Google is among the best Web search sites on the Web and it lists a significant percentage of the content on the Web.
