Creating an MLA-Style Works Cited List

How do I format the page itself?

How do I number the page? The Works Cited page should follow the page numbering pattern established by the rest of your paper, and the number on the page should be the one directly following that of your last page of text. In other words, if the last page of text in your paper is numbered "9," your Works Cited Page should be numbered "10."

What should the title of the page be, and where should it appear? The title of the page should be "Works Cited," unless you are using a more comprehensive list like a "Works Consulted" list or a "Bibliography." These latter two kinds of lists typically include many sources that haven't been cited directly within the paper, but are rather suggestions for further reading. The words "Works Cited" should be capitalized and centered (but not italicized, underlined, or set in caps) on a line one inch from the top of the page.

Should the page be single spaced or double spaced? Double space between the title and the first entry, then proceed to double space all entries. Click below to see this demonstrated.
