When the Author's Name is Not Mentioned in the SentenceWhen the author's name is not mentioned in the sentence, both the last name of the author and the date should be cited. The citation is placed in parentheses, and it follows directly the pertinent information that is being cited. When the citation falls at the end of the sentence, the parenthetical note precedes the end punctuation (period). There is a comma between the author's name and the date.
