- CRUCIAL:
When you get ready to send me drafts of your summaries and Toulmin analysis, be sure to save the drafts as plain text files (ASCII or DOS or TEXT, depending on the word processor you use). Summary drafts are probably short enough to paste into the message area of an e mail message if attachments are still seeming tricky.
- Filenames cannot end with a period. Use a short, descriptive name of no more than eight letters and then .txt for the plain text version and .doc for WordPerfect or Word version. But don’t just name your file summary. or I may not be able to retrieve it.
- All the points we cover in class about summary and Toulmin analysis are also treated in more detail in the assignments on our class page, the additional reading handouts, and the linked materials from the Writing Center.
- Be sure to use the class bulletin board or the class list in e mail for questions about summary or Toulmin analysis.
- Please check e mail regularly. When we start meeting less frequently, e mail is the best way I have to communicate with you.
- If you turn in drafts of summaries on paper, I’ll still send my responses through e mail unless you specifically tell me not to. If you don’t want an e mail response, please pick up commented drafts the class day after you drop them off.
